Ironically, those same
record gasoline prices that fit perfectly in line with the
event story line unfortunately had a sizeable negative impact
on the numbers of players who pre-registered to play. More
than a few teams that had planned to drive up from the South
and attend the event were forced to choose between Red Storm
Rising and Oklahoma D-Day a few weeks later. Needless to say,
the largest scenario event in the world won out.

The final touch was the tank's custom paint job. The
design was closely modeled after the authentic German camouflage
pattern used during World War II era.
