The New World: Early Colson pioneers helped colonize America
For years now, I have concentrated on digging up clues about Colson ancestors in Medieval England. I never really imagined that I would ever be able to trace my lineage back across the pond. I was vaguely aware of Colsons immigrating to this country back in the 1600's, but for as long as I can remember I had the notion that the Colsons were pretty scarce. It was not until I started connecting the dots through Ancestry.com that I was able to discover a trove of information--not to mention a ton of famous Colsons stretching as far back as the Revolutionary War.
I am still amassing the clues and trying to lash together the branches of the proverbial family tree. I have a few more roadblocks to overcome before I start posting my findings. Within the range of a few counties or neighboring states, there are Colsons who bore distinguished titles such as "Patron of Yellow Creek", "U. S. Congressman", "Brigadeer General (CSA)",and so on. The National Archives had numerous documents containing Colsons who did much towards the founding and defending of America before it was ever called the "United States".
In the mean time, enjoy some of the Colson family arcana that I have discovered over the years. I hope you enjoy what you find here. If you have any information that you think might be useful to me, please do not hesitate to contact me.
